Gene Jeffers

Gene Jeffers is focusing his efforts on creative writing and historic research after

45 years in nonprofit organizations, most recently as Executive Director of the

Themed Entertainment Association, the worldwide nonprofit trade alliance

representing the creators of compelling places and experiences. He has extensive

experience building connections and relations, and communications and analysis

at local, national and international levels. Previous positions include Executive Director of the American Red Cross Inland Valley Chapter; Executive Director of the Western Insurance Information Service; VP, Public Affairs and Communications of the National Association of Broadcasters; and a variety of positions at the American National Red Cross Headquarters, including Head of Media Relations, Assistant Director of Public Affairs, and Corporate Photographer. When not employed by Red Cross, Gene has often volunteered primarily in leadership and communications roles, such as Board Director, Dean and Instructor at national Red Cross PR/communications conferences, and on the Communications committees of various chapters, leading to a total of more than 35 years of volunteer and paid work for the organization. Gene is the recipient of an American National Red Cross Tiffany Award and of the first Themed Entertainment Association Outstanding Service Award, among other honors.

 

Gene is married to Carol S. Jeffers, writer and Professor Emeritus of Art Education, and has two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
